Ever since I was a kid I've loved the beautiful intricacies of language. I got it from my mom - she's a writer too. Ever get grounded? Not me. When I'd do something wrong as a child, like commit the cardinal sin of handing out presents without wrapping paper or attempting to hide a bad report card, out came the pen. My mom would have me write a five-page essay on the whys, whats, and hows of my infraction - always to be delivered within a day or two. At the time I hated it, but it helped shape my proficiency with English today...and clearly there is something to that, because I've been at it for 20+ years. (Thanks, Mom!)
